Dr. Nelson

Meet Flagstaff Dentist, Dr. Richard Nelson, DDS

Dr. Richard (Rick) Nelson and his wife Lanna have resided in Flagstaff since 1975, moving here after serving four years in the U.S. Army Dental Corps in Germany and Ft. Benning, GA.  They have raised four children together in Flagstaff.  Dr. Nelson has been involved in many civic and youth organizations in Flagstaff over the years, and now enjoys treating up to three generations of his Flagstaff family patients.

Dr. Nelson was born in Willmar, Minnesota, graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College and the University of Minnesota Dental School.  He has been active in organized dentistry in Arizona and the western states, having served as a dental examiner for the State of Arizona and in dental schools throughout the west, as past president of the Nothern Arizona Dental Society and Northern Arizona Trustee for the Arizona Dental Association.  He has twice been honored with the Arizona State Dental Service Award.

Dr. Nelson and his family enjoy most all of Flagstaff's outdoor activities including skiing, golfing, hiking the Grand Canyon, the Peaks, Lake Powell, photographing the wildlife and scenery of Arizona, and time at their Mormon Lake cabin.  He feels that one of the best decisions he and Lanna made for their family, and his profession, was moving to Flagstaff to establish his dental practice in Flagstaff Doctors Village.

"Flagstaff has been very good to me and my family, we have thoroughly enjoyed our time living here."
